Missing Ghosts And Ghosts I've Met
By Jean Dandrea
Last year, we visited an old mansion in Junee, New South Wales, Australia, which was reputed to be the most haunted house in the country. Personally, I think it was a rip off! We went hoping to see ghosts, and feel strange things happening, and saw and felt absolutely nothing. The person at the gate said they were always being sent photos of ghosts which people had taken in the house, but he didn't offer to show us any. Perhaps, like the ghosts, they were non-existant? Other than that, I've had a couple of experiences with ghosts, both of which were animals. On a visit to some relatives in the United Kingdom, I stopped talking during a conversation to watch a dog come in the door and walk across the room. When asked what I was watching, I told them about the dog, and that it had walked in and sat down in front of the fire. They hadn't seen anything, but said I'd described exactly what their dog used to do. What's odd here is that this dog used to belong to my family, and went to live with these relatives when we came to Australia. They thought she'd just come to say goodbye, and I never saw her again. The other ghost is a resident in my home, and has been seen, felt and heard by others. She's a tabby cat, and can sometimes be felt curled up next to you on the couch, or seen walking across the room. She might also brush against the legs of visitors, if she likes them! Sometimes she's heard to purr. I don't know why she chooses to stay around, but she was killed by something or someone unknown a few years ago. She doesn't visit as often as she used to, so perhaps she's getting ready to move on. I hope so, as she deserves a good afterlife!
