Marketing Isn't Always Easy
Marketing online isn't easy. What works for some doesn't work for others. What worked last week, or even yesterday, doesn't work today. It's a very frustrating business, that's for sure. Now I'm not a marketing guru - my expertise in this area is about zero. What I do know is that it is all a numbers game. If you get your ads out there often enough, sooner or later you are absolutely bound to make a sale. Many people give up before they have reached this point, however. They have been promised riches almost overnight by the over-hyped programs seen everywhere. You know the type : "$20,000 in a month, guaranteed". How can someone guarantee you $20,000 per month, without knowing you, or whether or not you are prepared to work for it. Nothing comes for nothing, but to hear the garbage they tell you in the ads, you'll get millions for doing absolutely nothing. Why do people fall for it? Greed is one answer. Hope is another. If you're broke, you're likely to clutch at any straw that falls in front of you. Unfortunately, the straw usually disappears in the wind before you can take a firm grip on it. If you're going to market online, first do some research. Check out a few programs, do some searches in various engines, and see what others are saying about these 'opportunities'. If they're any good, you won't find too much negativity about them. Decide what you would like to sell online; health products, ebooks, candles, gifts, or even dropshipping for a supplier. Whatever you choose, make sure you are really interested in it. You can't sell something you're not interested in. Use the product yourself, and be honest about it. Integrity is important, although you wouldn't think so, reading some of the promotional stuff online! When you've found a product or program you like, stay with it. Focus on that one thing for say three months, and really work at it. If you've not made progress by then, review your methods, and try something else. You won't make sales by advertising a hundred views a week on traffic exchanges, although many think you will. It takes thousands of views to make sales - it's often said that people take seven visits to a site before they'll buy, often they take longer. Today I heard about one man who was a program for A YEAR before he joined. (He's well into profit now!) It's important to brand yourself online. If you have your own website, host your own splash pages, put your name and photo on them. Get known. Be available to your customers, even if it's only by email. Respond to queries. Do everything you can to help people, and they're more likely to stay as your customers. Give yourself six months or even longer to work a program before giving up on it. I gave myself twelve months to work with the program I've had most success with. It's said it can take up to two years to really get going with a product or program, so don't be impatient. If you can work at it almost every day, then you will succeed. |
